Obituary of Robert L. Vestal

Robert L. Vestal, 79, passed away on April 28th, 2024 at the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. He was born on May 4, 1944 in Hancock, NY to his parents the late Shirley Vestal and Evelyn Mengel. Robert was a career machinist, working at The Smith Corona Corporation and Borg Warner. He enjoyed spending time golfing and was an avid bowler. Robert looked forward to going to the casino and loved to try his luck on scratch off lottery tickets. He will certainly be remembered for a great sense of humor and his occasional pranks with those he loved. Robert is survived by his children Vicki (Mike) Jordan, Penny (Steve) Parker, Dawna Benford (Randy), Robert (Peggy) Vestal, Greg Vestal, and Keith Vestal; his grandchildren Michael, Amanda, Samantha, Machaela, Nick, Brian, Brittany, Nicholas, Bobby, Rachel, Harleigh, and LillyAnn; and his great-grandchildren Alexa, Spencer, Maya, Cece, and Charlie. In addition to his siblings Robert was predeceased by his wife Janice and his daughter Tammy. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 2 at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. from 10 to 11am, with a service to begin at 11am. Burial will follow at Cortland Rural Cemetery.
