Jesse Robert Stevens, 83, of East Homer passed away peacefully on Saturday September 19, 2015. Born October 2, 1931 the son of Jesse and Laura Stevens graduated from high school in Truxton NY. From the time he graduated high school until his retirement in 2007, he successfully owned and operated the Stevens Family Dairy Farm. In addition to spending time with his wife of 57 years, Charlotte, and farming, he enjoyed spending time in his Sugar Shack making homemade maple syrup. He loved his family, the Yankees and his John Deere tractor. He will be missed deeply. Jesse is survived by his wife Charlotte Witty Stevens of East Homer, his children Jesse R. (Sue) Stevens Jr. of East Homer, William (Carol) Stevens of Tully, Patricia (Tim) Olley of California, Denise (John) Pitman of Marathon. His grandchildren Sheena (Drew) Hill, Lacey and Marci Pitman, Kayla, Amanda and Nathan Olley, Matthew Stevens, and Megan (Ricky) Martini. His sisters Elizabeth “Betty” Rood of Homer and Barbara (Richard) Round of Michigan. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11:00 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland, with Reverend Archie Smith officiating, interment will follow in Truxton Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Thursday evening from 5 -7 pm at the funeral home.
