Phyllis B. Hartnett, 85, of Truxton, passed away July 17, 2015 at home. She was born September 21, 1929 in East Homer, NY. The daughter of the late Harold and Anna Henry Stafford. She lived all of her life in the East Homer/Truxton area and graduated from Truxton Central School in 1947. She was a cosmetologist and then homemaker before returning to school to become an LPN. She was employed for many years at Cortland Memorial Hospital. She was a faithful communicant and member of the choir at St. Patricks, Truxton. Phyllis is survived by her daughters Shawna (William “Skip”) Schell and Karen Gallagher, and sons John (Jackie), Michael, and Mark (Georgianna), grandchildren: Jeffrey, Stephanie, Sierra, Riley, Halle, and Cullen. She is also survived by her sister Janet Sprouse, sister-in-law Janice Stafford and many nieces and nephews and her faithful companion Teddy. She was predeceased by her husband Charles, brother Duane “Bud” Stafford, and son-in-law Thomas M. Gallagher III. Calling hours are from 5 – 7, Sunday July 19th at Wright-Beard funeral home, 9 Lincoln Avenue, Cortland New York. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Monday July 20, 2015 at St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church, Truxton, NY 13158.
