Obituary of Ruth L. Thomas

Ruth (Lovelace) Thomas, a beautiful soul and a loving mother of 15, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 20, 2015 fortified with the sacraments. Her surviving children are Rita (Mark) Gray (West Chester, OH), Richard (Sue) Thomas (Cincinnati, OH), Robin (Bonnie) Thomas (Louisville, KY), Rene' Thomas, Roxanne Thomas, Randy Thomas, Rosemarie Galvez (all of Cincinnati, OH), Regina Thomas (Waverly, New York), Rebecca Thomas (Lexington, KY), Roberta Thomas, Rochelle Thomas, Rosalind Brock (all of Cincinnati, OH), Ruth MacLain (Cortland, NY), Rae (Chris) Hulbert (Homer, NY). She is also survived by sisters, Jayne Morton and Peggy Reed. Ruth was blessed with 28 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Ruth was sadly preceded in death by her husband, Robert Thomas, son, Leroy Thomas, one grandchild, and nine siblings. Earlier in life Ruth worked for the IRS in Covington, KY, and retired from Cornell University. She also had worked at P&C Market, was a volunteer for the Red Cross, a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Sons of Italy, and a parishioner at St. Mary Church in Cortland, NY. Calling hours will be held Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave Cortland NY with a Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Cortland. Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice or the Red Cross.
