Obituary of Fern Crandall

Fern Crandall, 88, of McGraw N.Y., went home to be with the Lord February 13, 2015 at home, surrounded by her loved ones. Fern was born to the late Lewis Wood and Iva Weeks Wood. Fern was married to the late Clifford Crandall. She was blessed with 3 daughters, Bonnie Mullen of Rome, Linda Bush of McGraw, and the late Elaine Case. She raised 3 grandchildren as her own, Jeffrey (Cathy) Crandall of Sempronious, Kimberly (Bud) Greene of Solon, and DJ (Lisa) Case of Cincinnatus. Fern also raised a great-granddaughter who was her caregiver, Joni Greene of McGraw. She also had twin great-granddaughters, Lindsey and Taylor Willcox of Solon, whom she helped care for. Fern also had other great-grandchildren that she loved spending time with, Tyler Lynch, Trevor Van Lare, Elizabeth Bush all of McGraw, and Emilee and Kelsey Case of Cincinnatus. Fern was the oldest of 13 children. Surviving are sisters, Janice Lett of Iowa, Patty (Louis) Cranson, Joyce (Rick) Alexander of McGraw, and a brother Mickey Wood of Cortland. Fern is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also a caregiver for several families of Cortland County. She was predeceased by brothers; Dean, Robert, John, Lynn (Jr.), Gene, Norman, and sisters; Edith Cortright, and Cecil Baker. Fern also lost a great granddaughter, Cuylie Elaine Case. A calling hour will be held at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Thursday from 2-3pm with a service to follow at 3.
