HEAVEN RECEIVED ANOTHER ANGEL Catherine M. Jenkins, 90, of the Friendship House, passed away January 6, 2015 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born April 13, 1924 in Cortland and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine Natoli Evangelista. Catherine was a lifelong resident of Cortland. She had been her family's caregiver and supporter all her life. Her family will cherish her memory for the love and dedication she showed for them and her friends. Catherine was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, the Catholic Daughters, and active in Fourscore. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, cooking Italian meals, and shopping. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Searls of Cortland, her grandchildren Theresa (Troy) Beckwith, of Cortland, Michael (Patricia) Searls of Tenn., great grandchildren Timothy, Cortney, and Jonathan, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Elmer L. Jenkins, brothers Alexander and Phil Evangelista, and son in law James L .Searls. Calling hours will be Friday 4-6 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 1:30 pm at St. Mary's Church.
