Martha Lang, 94, of Cortland NY, went to be with the Lord April 19, 2014. She was born December 30, 1919 in Pottersville NY, daughter of the late Harry and Flora Jenks Ingraham. Martha has lived in Cortland since coming here to attend Cortland Normal School graduating in 1938. She taught in a one room school house on Snyder Hill, Baker School House Rd., then Pomeroy School for twenty years, and retired from Smith School after three years. Martha was a member of the Church of the Redeemer formerly Memorial Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for years and was involved with the pioneer Girls. Martha was a member of the Cortland City, Cortland County, Central New York, and New York State Fireman’s Assoc., Fire Auxiliaries. She was also a member of the New York State Retired Teacher’s Assoc., and the New York State United Teacher’s, American Legion post 489 Auxiliary, and Cortland County Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband Paul Lang of 74 yrs., three children Patricia Savage of Brookhaven PA, Robert (Deborah) Lang of Walton NY, Charles (Nancy) Lang of Cortland NY, along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Wednesday 10 am-11:45 am with a funeral service to begin 12 pm at the Wright- Beard Funeral Home, Cortland NY, 13045. Burial will follow at the Cortland Rural Cemetery.
